What is One Health?
It’s something DelVal students are always hearing about, but many don’t know what it is or its purpose. The definition of One Health is vast, and its meaning? Well, that depends on who you ask. Hear from our faculty, staff, and students as they share what One Health means to them.
“If you’re gonna dam up the river, you’ve got to think about who’s up stream, who’s down stream, the environment, the animals, the economy; all these different things.”
– Claire Drolet, Access Services Librarian
“It is a way for people to understand that this is network of people to work together like our ecologists, our veterinarians, our educators, and anybody else that is involved in the natural world.”
– Makena Albright, Senior in Wildlife and Conservation Management
“It’s kind of the joy of thinking about that really we’re all part of this major system that is the planet Earth.”
– Reg Hoyt, Co-chair of the Animal Biotechnology & Conservation Department
“One Heath is a perfect example of one of the aspects that makes DelVal so special; the ability to be able to bring people together, faculty, staff, and students across disciplinary lines to address issues of global importance.”
– Ben Rusiloski, President of Delaware Valley University
“It recognizes that global health is not solely a function of human health, but the interconnectedness of human health, animal health, and environmental health.”
– Joseph Paris, Dean of Graduate & Professional Studies
