Celebrating Late Night Breakfast: A Delval Tradition

Every year before finals in the spring semester, Student Involvement and the Dining Hall team up to put on Late Night Breakfast. It’s a night right before finals when the Dining Hall serves breakfast, and Student Involvement hosts activities and raffles.

This year, there was coloring paper, a giant Jenga, raffles, and a new feature—custom pancake art. A company called Dancakes came out and made whatever people requested, from cartoon characters to family pets. These artists delivered. It only took them ten to fifteen minutes to make each one, and there were dozens of requests. The best part was a projector displaying the pancake-making live so everyone could watch the process.

The raffles are a consistent tradition each year. To enter, students simply walk into the Dining Hall and receive one ticket to place in the raffle of their choice. Raffle winners are announced at different times throughout the night. If a student’s name is called and they’re no longer present, a new ticket is drawn. This adds a bit of tension and excitement as everyone pauses for a few seconds, hoping their name will be called next. This year’s prizes included gift cards to restaurants and online stores, as well as gift bags filled with snacks and candy provided by the Dining Hall.

This year, over 300 people attended. The custom pancake art was a big hit, and many students hope to see it return next year. Late Night Breakfast remains a staple event at DelVal, giving students a chance to relax, eat, and have some fun with friends—whether through coloring, playing games, or enjoying personalized pancakes.
