DelVal’s Women’s wrestling heads to regionals.
Women’s wrestling is just starting to become popular and starting next year will become an official NCAA sport. What does it take to get ready for regionals in the wrestling world?
How do you prepare? As a collegiate athlete, you always have the pressure on you to be the best in every event you compete in. As a female college wrestler, who has not touched a mat in two years, the pressure was on. I needed to be in shape, on weight, and mentally prepared. My goal for regionals was to hit a move I have been working on called a snatch. I made sure to get extra work in the wrestling room and practiced till my whole body was dripping in sweat. When it came to eating food, I ate foods that I rather stare at than dare put into my mouth.
Finally the day came to head to regionals, and they were held at East Stroudsburg University, which has a really big event center where they are able to fit four mats down. No matter how this season went, it just made me even more excited for the next season. Next season is comeback season.
