For those curious about Public Relations and the value it brings to business, PR professional Gina Furia Rubel put it into perspective.
During a Feb. 26 podcast Q&A with students at DelVal, she shared her expertise and philosophy with students, .
“Everything you do is public relations, not everything is media relations,” she told the class. Rubel started the podcast talking about personal brand. “There is no wrong personal brand, whether you identify as an equestrian, an athlete, writer or politician, none of that is wrong; it’s who you are, so own it.”
Rubel is a highly accomplished legal marketing and public relations expert, renowned for her innovative strategies and exceptional leadership. With over two decades of experience, she has established herself as a thought leader in the legal industry, known for her expertise in branding, crisis management, and strategic planning. Rubel is also the founder and CEO of Furia Rubel Communications, a leading marketing and public relations agency serving the legal profession. Under her guidance, the agency has garnered numerous awards and accolades for its cutting-edge campaigns and client-focused approach.

Rubel is the author of a Textbook “Everyday PR” that is used by students at Delval. “Over the 25 years I’ve owned my business I’ve worked with everything from universities, nonprofits, International law firms, sports, there’s not an industry we haven’t touched.” Currently, Rubel’s main clientele are big law firms, mainly operating in crisis communications.
In addition to her work at Furia Rubel, Rubel is a prolific writer and speaker, sharing her insights on legal marketing and communications at conferences and seminars around the world. She is also a trusted advisor to many law firms, helping them navigate the complexities of modern marketing and public relations. She attended Drexel university where she had an opportunity to run all Public Relations for a solar car campaign. Although, she studied law throughout college obtaining a law degree.

“Proper planning prevents poor performance,” she said. She gave an example. During the pandemic, she was ahead of the curve. Working with nursing homes during the pandemic from a PR perspective can get difficult, “I walked a fine line, lawyers will always tell you to say ‘no comment,’ please, don’t ever say no comment,” she said.
She also touched on the differences between Business to Business and Business to Consumer marketing and the platforms that coincide with each, many of her clients are not on TikTok. “For our clients, it’s LinkedIn.”
She also mentioned that if you are trying to target people under 30 or any general consumer, “Instagram and TikTok are huge.”
After students shared their questions and discussed their majors, Rubel said:
“No matter what field you’re trying to go into, you need to understand personal relations.”
