The Full360 to feature Zoology Student Richard Bagala, “Mr. Untamedd”

I’m Richard Bagala, a Biology: Zoology major at Delaware Valley University (DelVal) in Doylestown, Pa.

Along the way, I’m interested in expanding my knowledge to have a better understanding of the animal kingdom and passing that knowledge on to others. At DelVal, I’m a member of Pre-Vet and Animal Lifeline Clubs and have now joined “Full360” to share with others my education and experiences with animals.

Since I was a little kid, I’ve had a passion for animals and all kinds of creatures large and small, learning more about them, their care, and their overall well-being. As an undergrad, I have my sights set on a career in veterinary medicine, with my ultimate goal targeted at becoming a veterinary specialist.

Since arriving in Doylestown, in addition to maintaining my full-time student course load, I’ve also worked at the school’s dairy farm as a farm hand, gaining hands-on experience with hormonal injections and understanding the animal production industry. While at school, I’ve bettered my knowledge with my volunteer experience at Ross Mill Farm, a pig sanctuary. I was responsible for performing laser therapy on ailing pigs and working with the pig specialist veterinarian to oversee routine checkups and overall care.

Another of my volunteer experiences has been at Cold Blooded Kingdom, a reptile specialty store/ exotic pet shop. There I learned hands-on by working with various species of reptiles, amphibians, and invertebrates. When back home in New Jersey, I work as a seasonal staff employee at NorthStar Vets Animal Hospital in Robbinsville as a veterinary assistant. I’ve gained valuable experience learning from the many vets and professionals on staff, while getting a chance to work hands on with the dogs, cats, rabbits, and the exotic pets they treat there.

As part of an effort to connect with the community, I established an Instagram page called “Mr.Untamedd,” where I post and document my animal experiences, trying to make people more accepting and informed about the different animals I’ve encountered.

Now with the help and support of DelVal University and The Full360 initiative, I’ll have a chance to share my passion and love of animals with all of you. I hope you take the time to watch, enjoy and respond to my animal related content, because as I like to say, “The more you know, the better you will become.”
