Clear your calendars. It’s that time of the year in Doylestown!
Delaware Valley University will host their 73rd annual Agriculture Day, better known as A-Day, from April 21-23.
A-Day is a massive county fair event held on campus where people from all over, especially from the Doylestown area, come to celebrate agriculture. The event last year drew more than 8,000 people on campus throughout the three-day celebration.
Delaware Valley University has a rich history, and this amazing event has been a staple of the university over the years. The first A-Day event took place in the year 1949, back when the school was titled “The National Agriculture School.” Seventy-three years later, the Doylestown and Bucks County community has the opportunity to enjoy and celebrate the event once again.
If, or when you decide to participate in the festivities this year, you might be wondering what to expect. As a senior here at DelVal, I unfortunately was not able to experience A-Day until my junior year due to the pandemic.
So if this is your first time attending or if you just need a quick refresher, here is what to expect from A-Day.
Plenty of Animals
Students at DelVal will showcase livestock throughout the three-day event. There will also be a reptile showcase inside the Krauskopf Library. Horseback rides and the beloved pig races will also take place at this year’s celebration of agriculture.
Milkshakes
Deemed as “Legendary” on the Delaware Valley University website, A-Day will be serving homemade milkshakes. The milkshakes are a fan favorite at A-Day and are made by the PA Dairymen’s Association. From first-hand experience, the milkshakes lived up to the hype and were absolutely delicious!
Food Trucks
Last year, there were over ten different food trucks of many varieties! You could choose between BBQ, Mexican, chicken, sweet treats, whatever you are in the mood for.
Tractor Parade
Take a ride on the massive tractor located in the back area of campus. The tractor ride goes along Farm View Road and is a must do activity at A-Day.
Some of the other events going on at A-Day include plenty of shops, games scattered throughout the quad, a performance from the dance team, sporting events, and plenty more. A-Day is just around the corner and I can’t wait to see you all there!
